What's new:

In addition, a new background customization feature has been added. A few weeks ago an update was released that allows you to set a custom background for your profile, now you can also choose from 6 custom backgrounds used throughout the community pages.

So with two new community looks available, each allowing further customization with 6 different backgrounds, means that there are now in total 12 new different community looks available.

TORRENT Scan Account
You can now register a TORRENT Scan account. Any customizations you make while logged in will be saved to your browser like before and in your account. If you login with a different browser, on a different computer, all your settings will be loaded.

Top menu bar
A new top bar across the top of the screen places all TORRENT Scan functionality and pages within easy reach.

• A new settings menu and language menu allows easy and quick access to your TORRENT Scan settings.
  
• Easy access to all TORRENT Scan pages

Previously released improvements include: site speed optimization, bug fixes mostly for the IE browser, an entirely new layout called "Lite", and search trends.

The new engines page is less squashed together making it easier to work with. The icon of each site is shown next to each site name so you can easily recognize engines.

Your engine list is shown at the top and the disabled engines are shown below. You can drag engines to and from both lists or use the + and - buttons.

You can quickly search through the available engine list in real-time using the search box.

Going into effect at 21:00 UTC, April 16 2010 it will not be possible to upload new images. This limitation is necessary because of the planned upgrade. It will be lifted again once the upgrade is complete.

The hardware upgrade will start at 13:00 UTC, April 17 2010. We expect that the IMGboot website and your images will not be accessible for 1 hour. However, we ask everyone to be prepared for a window of at least 5 hours of downtime.

TORRENTScan Lite is out of beta and has been released as a TORRENTScan feature. You can now go into your TORRENTScan preferences control panel and enable TORRENTScan Lite.

When you enable TORRENTScan Lite in your control panel, the first time you visit TORRENTScan.com, the lite page will be shown. After that, the standard page will be shown until you close your browser. You can also bookmark and visit the lite page directly at http://torrentscan.com/lite/.

You can now follow the worldwide BitTorrent evolution with the new BitTorrent Trends section. The total amount of torrents, seeders, leechers, and seeders to leechers ratio. You can choose a date range, for example the past month, or the past semester and the increase/descrease compared to the month or semester before that will be calculated for you.

In addition, you can see the top performing BitTorrent sites in each category, divided into the category of private and public sites. You can also view the least performing sites. A last informational feature is the listing of where BitTorrent servers are located in the world.


Individual BitTorrent Site Trends
Individual BitTorrent site information pages have also been redesigned. The information is now presented in much more organized and nicer way than before.

In addition, you can check the evolution of individual BitTorrent trackers. Just like the global BitTorrent evolution, you can check the torrent count, seeders count and more for any date range you choose. The growth or decline is automatically calculated and shown.

Directory Index Page
On the BitTorrent directory index page you can search for sites using various criteria, or by entering the name of the site. Various statistics and other information about the directory is displayed here as well.


Trackers with open sign-ups
The Open Trackers page lists the private trackers currently accepting new members. This is a useful space to monitor if you are looking to join a particular private tracker. An RSS feed is also available with all status updates.

Things like images, themes, and JavaScript files that were previously transferred to your browser by Torrent Scan server technology, is now sent using Google's server infrastructure. Google's server infrastructure is way better than that of Torrent Scan.

The result is a faster, more responsive Torrent Scan site. The Google CDN sends you the Torrent Scan website faster than Torrent Scan will ever be able to do, plus this relieves Torrent Scan from much of the work, speeding up the site elements that can't be provided by Google's CDN.

When you now visit the File Sharing Community index page a list of the recent active topics is presented. This way you can instantly discover the latest buzz and join the discussions. Under that you can post your thoughts by using our Status Update function. And below that the members with the most posts are respectfully honored.

The File Sharing Community index page now also lists the search box and under that the categories on the left. If you are looking to post a message, just pick a category and continue by clicking the big blue Start New Topic button.

Across the top of every page are the new breadcrumbs which show you in which category you are. The breadcrumbs have been greatly improved to make them visually more appealing, but also easier to locate and understand.

If you wish to switch back to the old look, you can find the option to switch in the bottom left corner of every page. There are now a total of four themes available.
