never use ZoneAlarm with Norton lots of Horror storys
But I recently stumbled into Prevex intrution prevention FREEWARE it works well in combonation with Anti-(virus,spyware) and firewall real time protections, and Prevex has real time as well. Seems lite on the sys, no lag. It warns you of any software installation that you dont pre-aprove of (click on sys tray icon get trusted installation) and warns you of every sub-installation (if you know what i mean) for instance with out pre-aproving it would warn you the installer is trying to install lets say application X and sepretly warn you the installer is trying to install application X's uninstall program so you could allow and block components or spyware.
check it out PREVEX looks good

1 of the firewalls is gonna be doing nothing... dont waste ur time
Not always true. You always need a good firewall as a primary. But as a secondary firewall, you can run an assimilator type program that counter-attacks the threat, hopefully shutting it down in the process. This is not always the best idea as it can leave you open to other types of attacks while this is happening.
For best results though a single software firewall combined with a good hardware firewall is your safest bet. Simple to set up, easy to update, and not a mess if it has problems needing to be fixed.
By the way, old laptop computers make some of the best hardware firewalls. You can load them up with security programs to your hearts content and leave a basic system on your main computer.

or mcafee.com
or grisoft.com
or ....
all antivirus software developers have that option on their site.
Just remember that it's not a replacement for a virusscanner on your PC, it's an emergency tool.
On-line scanners eg usually don't scan inside archives, so they can never find and/or remove all.
The fact that your system has to be connected to the internet meaning more viruses can get in, you can't scan in safe mode, only passive scanning (no auto-protection) etc, etc.

I used to have PG with KazaaRess but I dropped it when I swtiched to Torrents.
And do any of these conflict with with the firewalls and virus scanners?

IP blockers won't interfere with virus scanners or firewalls. You could think of it as if running Spybot's immunization feature or SpywareBlaster's immunization feature alongside your traditional virus scanner. They shouldn't interfere.
I wouldn't advise against using blocklists, even when using torrents. There's no harm in it. But then again, you must decide for yourself if you think you really need it: depends on what you download & from public trackers or not & perhaps your ISP (but don't be mistaken, it doesn't hide anything from your ISP).
