HandBrake Description

HandBrake is an open-source video converter for MacOS X, Linux and Windows.

HandBrake has advanced convertion options such as selecting the chapters to convert, including subtitles, calculating the bitrate, picture deinterlacing, cropping and scaling, and live video preview so you can see the output immediatelly.

It accepts any DVD-like source like VIDEO_TS folders, DVD images, certain .VOB and .TS files, and real DVDs. For the real DVDs HandBrake only supports unencrypted ones internally.

HandBrake also also accepts most other video formats (it uses libavformat to read and libavcodec to decode).

It can create video files in the following formats:

The latest version of HandBrake no longer supports the creation of AVI and OGG/OGM files. The reason is that these file formats do not support the advanced features of HandBrake.
