Transmission Description
Transmission is the most popular Mac OS BitTorrent client.
Its main features are as follows:
Works without needing to configure it
The Transmission development team set out two goals for themselves. The first was to offer advanced features and the second was to make it easy to use. After you install Transmission you will be able to start downloading torrents. You can easily enable advanced features if you want. These advanced features are directory watching, bad peer blocking, and a web interface.
Low memory usage
Transmission is designed to use only a minimal amount of system resources. This BitTorrent client has one of the lowest memory footprints of all BitTorrent clients out there.
Native cross-platform support
Transmission is written in languages that are native to the operating system they are intented for. The result is that Transmission offers a very stable, and fast program experience. For the Mac OS it uses dock badging to notify you, and for Unix distros it uses the native libnotify, DBUS and GIO.
Packed with features
The Transmission BitTorrent client has all the advanced features of a modern BitTorrent client. The features range from Protocol Encryption, to a web interface, to DHT and peer exchange, UPnP support, NAT-PMP port forwarding, web seeding support, directory watching, editing trackers of torrents, and speed limiting per torrent or globally.
Free without malware
Transmission is Open Source software, hence it is free for anyone to use and welcomes anyone that wishes to help develop the client to make it better.
